Know More About Elixir Tea
Our leaves grow on small family farms in Karbi Anglong, the hills just south of Kaziranga National Park. These are smallholder plots, not plantations. Every step is done by hand. Only two leaves and a bud are hand-plucked. Karbi women roll each batch by hand, with no rolling machine at all. The leaves dry under the Assam sun in bamboo polyhouses, and every batch is graded by eye and hand. Whole leaf only: no dust, no fannings, no filler. For the past two to three years, Elixir has worked directly with 20 to 50 Karbi women artisans. They are paid directly, with no middleman, earn above the local market rate, have steadier income across the year, and share in the profits through bonuses when Elixir grows.

Jubin Ahmed left a corporate job in Bangalore and came home to Assam. Elixir Tea was his first venture, built with Karbi women artisans.
It was followed by Nativehill and Travella Stays: one journey, three ventures, and one idea behind all of them, to share the Northeast through the people who know it.
Our story
Why Elixir began
A few years ago, Jubin Ahmed left a comfortable corporate job in Bangalore and came home to Assam. Elixir Tea was the first thing he built here.
Around 90% of the tea India produces is CTC: leaves fed into machines that crush, tear and curl them into tiny pellets (ICRA, Tea Board data). Whole-leaf orthodox tea is a small share, and almost all of it is shipped abroad.
Back home, he saw how the system works. Leaves leave the hills cheap and pass through agents, auctions and blenders. The value is real, but it never travels back up the hill, and the women whose hands make Assam tea see the smallest share of all. Elixir was built to change that.

To make Elixir Tea a respected tea house that tea lovers around the world know as Assam's own, where every new market means more income, more training and more pride for the Karbi women who make our tea.
Our Mission
- To make whole-leaf tea entirely by hand: hand-plucked, hand-rolled, sun-dried and hand-sorted.
- To work directly with Karbi women artisans: direct pay above the local market rate, steadier income all year, and a share of the profits.
- To train alongside them in hand-rolling, grading and sorting, hygiene and FSSAI food-safety standards, and money management.
- To bring the taste of real Assam saah to tea lovers everywhere.
